The Israel Energy Partnership, Inc. (“TIEP”) was established in October 2008, following establishment of the U.S.-Israel Energy Cooperation program, in order to foster further U.S.-Israel cooperation on alternative energy research and development.

TIEP is a not-for-profit organization and recognized as a charitable institution by the Internal Revenue Service under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRS determination letter available upon request).  Contributions to TIEP are deductible to the extent permitted by law.  TIEP does not provide tax or legal advice.  We recommend that you consult with your accountant  or attorney regarding your charitable giving.

The Israel Energy Partnership (TIEP)

TIEP was founded by the team that conceived of and successfully fought for enactment of the U.S.-Israel Energy Cooperation Program.  Since its establishment, that program has provided millions of dollars of grants for cooperative R&D between Israeli and U.S. companies and researchers, leading to crucial innovations in energy efficiency and alternative energy technology. In each of the past two years, the U.S. and Israel each has provided $2 million for the program.

Grants each year are made upon the recommendation of a 3-member advisory committee representing the U.S. Department of Energy, the Binational Science Foundation (BSF) and the Binational Industrial Research Foundation (BIRD). Applications are submitted through BSF and BIRD.

FORGING AN ALLIANCE TO REDUCE GLOBAL DEPENDENCE ON OIL

Both Israel and the United States have recognized that the industrialized world’s addiction to imported oil leads to political, economic and energy insecurity. Collaboration for finding ways to reduce the use of oil, and to produce substitutes for petroleum-based transportation fuels would make a great deal of sense.  In partnership with the US-Israel Science and Technology Foundation and other backers, The Israel Energy Partnership has taken the lead in building that collaboration.
